The ClickView Sync Manager is a tool that comes packaged with ClickView Publisher software. It is used to synchronise videos from ClickView Publisher to your online ClickView library. The Sync Manager allows you to choose which videos will be uploaded to ClickView, as well as specify when the synchronisation of videos will occur.
Please note the Online Sync Manager in the master instance of ClickView Publisher will have more settings than other instances of ClickView Publisher. Settings such as online synchronisation scheduling are only available within the master instance of ClickView Publisher.
To access the ClickView Online Sync Manager, open ClickView Publisher and go to Tools>Sync Manager. This will open the Sync Manager in a separate window.
The Sync Manager window will have 3 tabs; Summary, Scheduling, and Queue.
The Summary tab will provide a list of videos that have successfully been uploaded to ClickView, as well as information about videos that are not compatible for upload.
The Scheduling tab is where users can begin configuring Online synchronisation. Under the scheduling tab, you will be able to configure how often your videos synchronise with ClickView Online, as well as specify which videos in your ClickView Library will be synced. To configure how often an Online sync occurs, you must be using the ClickView Publisher (Master) application, not the client instance. The synchronisation schedule is set using the Run Uploads drop-down menu. From here you will be able to select how often the sync will occur. Once you have selected a time-frame for the sync to occur, click 'Apply' to make the changes.
In order for a video to be synchronised, it must be marked for upload. To do this, right-click on a video or folder in the list under the Scheduling tab, and select Enable Upload. Once the video is marked for upload, it will turn orange.
When a folder is marked for upload, it can appear in one of three states:
- All the videos within the folder are marked for upload, signified by a completely filled circle icon next to the folder.
- Only some of the videos within the folder will be uploaded, signified by a half-filled circle icon next to the folder.
- None of the videos within will be uploaded, signified by a grey circle with cross icon
When the videos have been marked for upload and a schedule has been set, the process will occur automatically, and no further action is required.
If you wish to immediately sync videos online to ClickView, navigate to the main window of ClickView Publisher, and at the top of the video list, right-click on your institution name and select 'Synchronise changes with ClickView Online'.
A new window will appear indicating the progress of the synchronisation.
If you wish to synchronise a single video, simply navigate to the video in the main window of ClickView Publisher. Once the video is located, right-click on it and select 'Generate ClickView Online URL'. This will force the video to manually sync with ClickView Online.
