After initially setting up your ClickView Publisher (Master) and installing your Digital Video Library, you may also want to synchronise your video library with ClickView Online.
The ClickView Online Sync Manager is a utility that comes packaged with the ClickView Publisher software, and is used to synchronise videos from ClickView Publisher to ClickView Online. The Sync Manager allows you to choose which videos will be uploaded to ClickView Online, as well as specify when the synchronisation of your ClickView Library will occur.
Whilst all the videos that you have marked for sync will be converted into the ClickView Online video format for caching, only those videos that are unique to your institution will actually be uploaded to Online by ClickView Publisher. Content that has been provided by ClickView, as well as content from the ClickView Exchange does not need to be uploaded by Publisher
Note: This tutorial can only be followed on the Master instance of ClickView Publisher within your school. If you do not have the option to change the upload schedule within your instance of ClickView Publisher, you will need to speak to your IT department and request they change this on your behalf, or provide you access to the master instance of ClickView Publisher.
Accessing the Sync Manager
1. Launch ClickView Publisher (Master).
2. Select Tools and then ClickView Online Sync Manager.
Understanding the Sync Manager
The Sync Manager window will have 3 tabs: Summary, Scheduling, and Queue. The Summary tab will provide a list of videos that have successfully been uploaded to ClickView Online, as well as information about videos that are not compatible for upload (in the event that a video is unable to be successfully uploaded to ClickView Online.) To begin configuring Online synchronisation, please click on the Scheduling tab.
Configuring the Sync Schedule
Under the scheduling tab, you will be able to configure how often your videos synchronise with ClickView Online, as well as specify which videos in your ClickView Library will be synced.
NOTE: To configure how often an Online sync occurs, you will require access to the ClickView Publisher (Master) application. The synchronisation schedule times cannot be set via ClickView Library Manager or other instances of ClickView Library Publisher
1. Click on Scheduling within the ClickView Online - Sync Manager.
2. Click on the drop down list to change the schedule to your desired period.
3. Once you have selected this, click Apply.
Selecting which titles will sync to ClickView Online
In order for a video to be synchronised, it must be marked for upload. To do this, right-click on a video or folder in the list under the Scheduling tab, and select Enable Upload. When a video is marked for upload, it will appear in the scheduling list in colour. When a folder is marked for upload, it can appear in one of two states:
- All the videos within the folder are marked for upload, signified by a completely filled circle icon next to the folder.
- Only some of the videos within the folder will be uploaded, signified by a half-filled circle icon next to the folder.
Additionally, when an entire folder is not marked for upload, this will be shown via the icon next to the folder, which will appear as a circle containing a cross.
Once the videos have been marked for upload, there are several options available that can be taken to perform the sync.
When the videos have been marked for upload and a schedule has been set, the process will occur automatically, and no further action is required. However, if you wish to immediately synchronise videos with ClickView Online, the steps below can be taken in order to perform this task.
If you wish to sync multiple videos with ClickView Online, navigate to the main window of ClickView Publisher, and at the top of the video list, right-click on your institution name and select Synchronise changes with ClickView Online.
A new window will appear indicating the progress of the synchronisation.
If you wish to synchronise a single video, simply navigate to the video in the main window of ClickView Publisher.
Once the video is located, right-click on it and select Generate ClickView Online URL. This will force the video to manually sync with ClickView Online.
