What's changed?
As ClickView moves to a new user authentication model that will allow users to login with a 'username', that need not be an email address, a check has been introduced during the email verification stage which will stop a user from verifying an email address that is already in use as another account's username.
Our records indicate that for some users , multiple user accounts exist so this may see some users requiring to re-verify their previously verified email address.
If you'd like to know why you should verify your email, you can read our article here.
Email Already in Use?
If you or a user at your institute attempts to verify an email address and receives a message like the one in the image below, then the email address will exist against another user account:
If a user attempts to verify their account against an email address, which is already used to verify another account, then the following message will be returned and the user can simply verify the email address by clicking on ‘Continue anyway’ button, as shown below:
How do I resolve the issue?
As an administrator, you can check to see if the email address is already in use within your institution by accessing the staff management settings within ClickView:
1) Click on your name in the top right of the screen
2) Click on Settings within the drop down menu
3) click on Staff from under User Management heading on the left of the screen.
4) From the Manage Teachers screen, you have the option to search for the user by their name and/or email address. Select the relevant search criteria filter in the drop down box, and then the search criteria, as depicted above.
From the results retrieved, Administrators can decide whether the email address is verified against the correct account:
If it is not, then the option to delete the account is available as highlighted above.
NOTE: a deletion will remove any content associated with the account. If the email address is verified against an incorrect account, then please contact support@clickview.com.au or support@clickview.co.uk to have the verified email address removed.
As a user, there is an option of 'unlinking' the verified email address, by opting to using another email address for verification, via the 'Update email' button:
1) Click on your name in the top right of the screen
2) Click on Settings within the drop down menu
3) click on Email & Password from under Settings heading on the left of the screen.
4) Here you will see the email address field, in which a new email address can be entered for the account to be verified against, as shown below:
